Practical information

In Sarek, Nature sets the terms. Sarek National Park is a living Sámi cultural landscape and not an area adapted to tourism. There are no marked winter or summer trails. The only marked trail in Sarek is a section of the King’s Trail (Kungsleden) in the south. The best time for touring in Sarek is July-September, or for skiers, March-April.

Nor are there any overnight cabins in Sarek. The cabins placed in Sarek are for reindeer husbandry and for the maintenance and management of the national park. That means you yourself must carry a tent and all the equipment you need for a mountain tour. In the menu on the right you can find information about the cabins on the outskirts of the national park.

There are just a small number of bridges across watercourses in the national park. You can find information about the bridges here.

If you are searching for more information about transport, accommodation and what you can do in the area, we recommend that you contact the tourist information offices in Jåhkåmåhkke/Jokkmokk and Jiellevárre/Gällivare. They have knowledgeable staff who can help you on your way.
