Laponia Visitor Centre Jåhkåmåhkke/Jokkmokk is located in Ájtte Mountain and Sámi Museum, and is one of the museum’s permanent exhibitions. The exhibition tells the history of the annual fair and how trade routes have always bound together the people of Laponia. We also tell of the many different animals, birds and plants that live in Laponia, and take you on a helicopter tour through the entire World Heritage Area. In the exhibition Laponiamania, designed for young people, you can try your hand at juoiggos song, take part in a mosquito whacking contest and test your Laponia know-how.
You are most welcome!
Open: year-round. See the Ájtte website for details of opening times.
